The mural by Paul Curtis Artwork at Scarisbrick Avenue in Southport

With Southport being so quiet, you may not have noticed that a huge three-storey mural is starting to appear on the side of a row of buildings in Southport.

The giant painting is being done on the end of a row at Scarisbrick Avenue, fronting the Promenade, in Southport town centre, as part of this year’s Sefton Borough of Culture celebrations. .

The man behind the work is acclaimed street artist Paul Curtis, whose work includes the brilliant Audrey Hepburn art on the front of David Myers opticians on London Street in Southport and the iconic angel wings in the Baltic Triangle in Liverpool.

Paul, who runs Paul Curtis Artwork, has been keeping safe from Coronavirus by working high – well away from passers-by.

He said: “I have been safe and isolated 15 metres up in my basket.

“I am working on a massive mural in Southport.

“Anyone guess what it is yet?”
