Southport Lifeboat quad bikes patrolling Southport Beach

Southport Lifeboat volunteers saw another busy day yesterday as they dealt with multiple incidents along the Sefton Coast.

A spokesman said: “These incidents included three separate children in difficulty in the water, a number of missing person searches, people getting cut off by the incoming tide.

“We also removed a number of inflatables that had begun drifting out to sea.

“The units recovered at 7.30pm with our quads having covered 39 miles each between Southport and Formby.”

People are now being urged to support Southport Lifeboat, which relies on donations to keep operating.

They said: “Please remember that our charity is not part of the RNLI and raises money locally to save lives in the Southport area.

“During this time our main source of income, the charity shop, is closed. There are other ways which you can help us continue to save lives, including LifeboatLotto or online donations. “Details can be found on our website www.southport-lifeboat.org.uk

“Thank you for your continued support!”
