Southport is legendary for our packed events calendar as well as our thriving what’s on scene, with an amazing three theatres in town!
Our town boasts some of the biggest events in the UK with the likes of Southport Air Show, Southport Flower Show, Southport Comedy Festival, Southport Halloween Festival, Southport Christmas Lights Switch On and lots more besides. This year we have even more taking place with 2020 heralding Sefton Borough of Culture.
Our arts scene includes Southport Theatre & Convention Centre, which was opened over 40 years ago by Hollywood legend Marlene Dietrich. The Atkinson, Sefton Council’s cultural hub, is home to theatres, museums, art galleries and a library with a wide variety of shows suitable for all ages. And Southport Little Theatre, home to Southport Dramatic Club, is the main place where you will find shows staged by our town’s super talented amateur dramatic societies, including the SDC, All Souls, Birkdale Orpheus Society, Southport Spotlights, Birkdale Orpheus Society and more.
Those who love films will enjoy the new Southport Bijou Cinema, the Vue Cinema and Southport Film Guild, which is held at The Atkinson. Southport also has a lively live music scene, with live music venues across our resort.
