Do you remember C3PO, R2D2, K9 and Johnny 5?

Well, now there is a new ‘bot on the block after Bliss Hotel Group in Southport unveiled Betty the Blissbot, the first room service robot in the UK.

The first of her kind in the UK, Betty is busy replacing outdated room service menus with a fresh new approach to hospitality, delivering a range of goodies and unique ‘SOS kits’ to your room at Bliss in Southport.

Powered by a team of world-class engineers and tech wizards, Savioke, Betty is a fully automated ‘bot that the California-based robotics company is making for the service and hospitality industry.

With a fleet of 40,000 strong already putting smiles on faces across the pond, Betty is the first of her family looking to take the UK by storm.

Savioke CEO Steve Cousins said: “We are excited to be working with forward-thinking organisations like Bliss Hotel Group to bring automated, convenient, and fun product delivery to guests.

“As the first robot deployment for this purpose in the UK, Blissbot will be on hand to handle room deliveries quickly, safely, and reliably, enabling our staff to focus more time with guests, greatly improving the guest experience, as well as improving staff productivity and financial performance.”

Having recently scrapped old school room service options Bliss Hotel Southport is focusing on creating a unique experience as part of guests’ stay. Betty offers an array of fun goodies from gourmet popcorn (to enjoy while you Netflix and chill) to a crisp, to a nice cold bottle of IPA.

To enjoy a visit from Betty, guests simply check out her menu of goodies and dial 0 to order.

Betty then embarks on her journey up the lifts and through the corridors straight to your

room, where she will pop open her lid and give you the goodies.

Through stellar robotic engineering, Savioke has ensured that Betty will not veer off track, bump into any guests and most importantly, pop her lid for anyone else but you. While Betty has no deliveries to make, she has been interacting with guests, saying hello, having a dance or maybe even giving people a wave.

Bliss Hotels is excited for Betty to strut her stuff and free up the human staff to spend time on enhancing the guest experience.

Bliss Hotels founder Daniel Broch said: “At Bliss, we love to create experiences that delight and surprise, something we did when we founded the Everyman Cinema chain, and Betty is going to play her part in doing just that for our guests.

“Our team’s vision is to be bold, push boundaries and exceed expectations. We think introducing Betty fits that bill nicely – but don’t take my word for it, come and try her out!’’

After rebranding from Ramada Plaza in January of 2018, Bliss Hotels’ innovation began with a huge refurbishment programme which has so far seen a whole floor of brand new redesigned rooms including The Penthouse and The Other Penthouse, the Roof Garden and Bliss Kitchen, offering friendly, creative and delicious food with a contemporary backdrop curated by interior designer Lisa Lipscomb.

The soulful hotel brand is the brainchild of Bliss Investment Partners whose other successful ventures include creating the chic cinema chain, Everyman Cinemas.

The hotel is part of the 250,000 square foot Waterfront Southport, a complex that is also under the remit of the ambitious entrepreneurs, which boasts the art deco Southport Theatre and Convention Centre, Floral Hall Ballroom and Genting Casino.
