Schools in Southport are working together to create food parcels for families in our town who are most in need.
A number of schools and suppliers are now working together to help those affected badly by the impact of coronavirus.
Donations will be used to purchase a range of food and essential products that will then be delivered directly to these families.
One of the organisers, Mark Brownett, said: “When we set out, we hoped that £2,000 would be a good target. After only a few hours, we are already close to the £1000 mark and would like to thank all those who have donated.”
“Please keep sharing and let’s see how much we can get to. Remember, every penny will go to help those who are most in need in the Southport community.”

Meols Cop High School headteacher Mr Parry said: “This is an effort involving a number of local schools.
“All local schools are going above and beyond not only ensuring education provision is available for the children of key workers and our students who most need it, but also on so many other levels.
“We are now seeing more and more families who need even more support with some of life’s basics and as schools are at the centre of communities in Southport they are in an ideal position to support.
“This appeal will allow schools to provide an additional level of support with food to the families who most need it and the way the community has come together already has been nothing but outstanding.”
Christ The King High School headteacher Mrs Wheeler said: “The schools in Southport work so closely with their families that they are ideally positioned to provide this additional support.
“The donations will all go to help those who most need that extra help at this time.”
