Drivers at All White Taxis in Southport have raised money to buy food and other essential goods for some of their self -isolating customers – before going out to deliver the parcels direct to their doors.

A spokesman said: “We have spent the day packing Care Packages for some of our self -isolating customers. The packages contain up to 21 items such as cleaning and personal care products, tinned and dried foodstuffs, eggs, pasta and sauce to go with it tinned fruit, biscuits and others.

“These will be delivered over the next few days.

“The money was donated by our drivers and we matched that amount. We had help from GIFTpoint and the staff and management at B&M Bargains, Aldi, ASDA and Poundland.

“The suggestion was made by one of our drivers, Andrew Westmoreland, and he has driven and motivated other drivers to donate and lend a hand and the response has been fantastic.
