A huge Rainbow made with hundreds of colourful balloons has been created outside a hotel to pay tribute to workers in the NHS fighting Coronavirus.

The incredible tribute to our NHS heroes was created by Anthony Duffey, owner of the Sunnyside Hotel in Southport. The seaside hotel is situated on Bath Street, between Southport town centre and the Promenade.

Anthony Duffey said: “My sister, Maria, is working in a London Hospital in the fight against Covid-19 and other members of the family have been trying to provide support in the fight against the virus.

“My mother and sisters have registered as volunteers and my partner, Larissa De Bastos Del-Tetto, has been on the sewing machine making surgical masks.

“I wanted to get involved so decided to make the balloon arch to say thank you to all key workers and to help reinforce the message of stay home, stay safe and to generally put a smile on people’s faces.

“We were inspired by the rainbow paintings and pictures that have appeared in the windows of the homes in the area hence the rainbow colours.

“I am sure that the support from the residents of Southport has been uplifting for key workers, especially travelling home from a long shift to see all how appreciated they are during this time.

Fun Festival is just what Southport needs after Covid-19 outbreak ends

“It is good to see the town pulling together to offer support in the face of adversity.”
