With people eager to find local food stores which are still open and remain stocked, M&S has sent a message to shoppers that their Food Hall remains open.
M&S on Chapel Street in Southport town centre has closed its clothing and retail sections, in line with Government restrictions on non-essential shops.
But not everyone in town realises that the Southport M&S Food Hall remains open, with c customers urged to follow sensible physical distancing advice and other precautions to guard themselves and others against Coronavirus.
Shelves are said to be well-stocked, and staff have been carefully wiping down baskets with sanitiser before handing them out.
There is a queueing system in place, with people urged to stay two meters apart from one another, but it doesn’t take very long to get served.

After Sefton Council suspended parking charges last week while the Covid-19 outbreak is taking place, shoppers can park for free in the council-owned car parks on Tulketh Street nearby.
A spokesman for M&S Southport said: “We fully support the Government’s efforts to protect our NHS and save lives.
“The health and wellbeing of you – our customers – and our colleagues is our top priority, and we want to help keep you well during this unprecedented time.
“The kindness and support we show each other will get us all through this.”
M&S Southport is open 9am-6pm Mondays to Saturdays, and then 11am-5pm on Sundays.
There is also a special hour for over 70s between 9am and 10am every Monday and Thursday and the same but for ‘blue light’ workers on Tuesdays and Fridays between 9am and 10am.
