The 2020 grand opening of Southport Pleasureland has been delayed due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

Owner Norman Wallis, who has ambitious plans to transform the attraction, says local residents must now work hard to keep Southport in people’s minds ready for when the virus is defeated.

The park was due to open for its new season this Saturday (March 21).

He said: “I feel really sad for all our staff and guests. But even though we are the most seasonal of businesses in Southport, I have had to make the decision to delay opening Southport Pleasureland due to the national emergency we all find ourselves in.

“It is important that we all follow Government guidelines and do everything we can to ensure we are all able to continue making happy memories for years to come.

“Please let’s make sure we all follow the advice we have been given by the Government, help others where we can, and be safe.

“Together we will continue to keep Southport in people’s minds, so that they can all come and enjoy our beautiful town and share in the glorious fresh air of our wonderful resort when all of this is over.”
