A hotel firm which operates three sites in Southport has closed down its operations during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Britannia has temporarily shut The Prince Of Wales Hotel on Lord Street, The Scarisbrick Hotel on Lord Street and Pontins in Ainsdale.

The firm will not be giving refunds to anyone who has booked rooms or holidays while the Covid-19 outbreak is taking place, but says it will either refund or amend dates afterwards.

A Britannia spokesman said: “Following the Prime Minister’s latest announcement, we have had no choice but to close our hotels and Sales Centre/Head office functions with immediate effect.

“We understand that you will be concerned regarding bedroom reservations you have booked and refunds that may be due.

“Any bedroom reservations that are still live during this current situation will be given the option to amend or receive a full refund.

“However during this current Lockdown period we are unable to action the above

“ As soon as the situation changes we will update our website notice with further information.

“Best wishes during this difficult time.”
