Southport & Ormskirk NHS Hospital Trust has launched an urgent welfare appeal for staff, volunteers and patients, to help them during this Covid-19 crisis.
A hospital spokesman said: “This is no ordinary time. Right now our staff are on the front line against the Covid infection, and they’re going the extra mile, every day, to take care of us and our loved ones despite being under extreme pressure. They need our support more than ever.

“Southport and Ormskirk Hospitals Charity is proud to support our staff, volunteers, patients and visitors and we’ve been overwhelmed by your offers of support since the Covid-19 pandemic began.
“From doctors and nurses, to porters and our new team of bleep volunteers who are supporting us by freeing up critical time for our medical staff to provide the best possible care. There are so many NHS staff who are pulling together to tackle this crisis head on.

“That’s why we’ve set up an Urgent Staff and Volunteer Welfare Appeal. We understand that many people face difficult times during this crisis, however if you are able to do so, please donate anything you can afford to support our remarkable hospital heroes.
“All funds raised will go towards the purchase of key equipment and services. Anything raised over and above what might be needed right now will go towards helping our hospitals continue to give exceptional care in the future.
