Police in Southport have received several complaints from people over neighbours hosting parties and BBQs despite the coronavirus outbreak.
Now they are urging people to avoid any gatherings, in order to stop the spread of the virus.
It comes as new figures today reveal that Britain has suffered 717 more Covid-19 deaths, taking the total number of fatalities to 11,329 – the fourth highest in the world.
A Sefton Police spokesman said: “We continue to get calls from residents reporting parties / barbecues / large gatherings in homes of their neighbours etc.
“It is vital we clarify that ‘social distancing’ means that people must avoid all unnecessary contact with other people, who do not live at their home address.

“This includes family members who live elsewhere, as well as friends.
“We realise that this is a tough ask, but no-one should be inviting people who do not live at an address to visit for any reason, other than an emergency, and even then, please call the emergency services first.
“If you are invited to a party at someone else’s home during the Covid-19 situation, please politely decline and remind the person who invited you, of the Government’s Covid-19 instructions. Only by complete compliance can we reduce the spread of this infection and literally save lives.”
However officers have also thanked everyone who has stayed at home and complied with the latest coronavirus advice over the Easter weekend.

A police spokesman said: “We thank all residents who have understood the need for, and made every effort to comply with social distancing in our communities, over this Bank Holiday weekend so far.
“Additional patrols were out again across the parks and open spaces across North Sefton yesterday.
“Off-road vehicles including quad bikes were utilised to ensure a thorough coverage of some of the less accessible areas. An abandoned black 4×4 vehicle on the sand dunes has been noted by officers and National Trust staff, for removal. We will continue to patrol open areas to keep members of the public safe during these difficult times.
