Two Southport hotels could be used as emergency extra hospital accommodation amid the Coronavirus outbreak.
Britannia Hotels said they could provide both the Prince Of Wales and The Scarisbrick Hotel, both on Lord Street in Southport, to help ease pressure on the NHS at nearby Southport Hospital.
The chain, which also owns Pontins in Ainsdale and The Adelphi in Liverpool, said it could provide buildings with more than 600 beds across the country to help the fight against Covid-19.
They hope that this may “free up valuable bed spaces for critical care.”

A spokesperson said: “We are uniquely placed to provide extensive support accommodation for hospitals or care homes during this difficult time.
“It so happens that some of our hotels were already under active consideration for possible conversion into private health and social care facilities.
“Although these plans were at an early stage, we believe that the schemes were certainly feasible.
“This crisis affects us all, and we believe that we can offer an immediate practical response to assist the healthcare providers.”
