Southport Lifeboat volunteers are urging selfish motorists not to park on the slipway at Southport Beach and prevent their lifeboat from being launched.
There are no lifeguard patrols available during the coronavirus crisis, even more reason why Southport Lifeboat has to remain on high alert.
With yesterday becoming the hottest day of the year so far, crowds of people flocked to beaches at Southport, Formby and Ainsdale, resulting in parking issues along our coastline.
A Southport Lifeboat spokesman said: “Once again we appeal to the public not to park irresponsibly on Southport’s slipway.

“The slipway is our way of accessing the beach to launch our lifeboats. Should we be required to attend a service call, our lifeboats would not be able to launch – which could have potentially life-threatening consequences.
“With lifeguard services temporarily suspended on our beach, coupled with the good weather, there has been an increase in call-outs for emergency crews that is putting extra strain on the volunteer coastal rescue teams.
“We understand that the public want to exercise freely on your coastline, however, we appeal to the public to consider where they’re parking.”
